There are four application programs in the SkinSilkTM  system that have been formulated to treat both men and women.

Skin Skin 1

Application 1: Skin Sustaining

This customized system of daily applications is designed to sustain and improve your current youthful beauty and radiance by enhancing collagen production.

Step 1: Skin Moisturizing - Alpha Hydroxy Acids Lotion

Alpha hydroxy acids are derived from fruit and milk sugars and work mainly as an exfoliant. They cause the cells of the epidermis to become "unglued" allowing the dead skin cells to slough off, making room for regrowth of new skin. Alpha hydroxy acids even stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This Alpha Hydroxy Acids Lotion is formulated to help rejuvenate and improve skin tone, along with helping it to maintain additional moisture.

Innovative Ingredients:

• Lactic Acid (4.25%)
• Tartaric Acid (2.0%)
• Glycolic Acid (3.5%)  

Application:

You should first follow your pharmacist or physician application instructions in all cases. General recommendations for use are: After cleansing thoroughly, apply sparingly and evenly to face, hands and other areas such as feet, heels, elbows, knees, etc. Use daily for maximum benefits to help skin maintain natural suppleness. Slight and temporary tingling or stinging may result.

Warnings:

For external use only. Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact in or around eyes. Discontinue use immediately if any irritation or burning occurs. Sun Alert: Because this product may make your skin more sensitive to sun, be certain you have adequate sunscreen protection while using this product and for a week after you discontinue use. Discard Date: 90 days from purchase

Step 2: Skin Color Restoration - Hydroquinone Cream

Hydroquinone (high drow kwin on) is a strong inhibitor of melanin production, meaning that it lightens skin color.

Using this lotion can make a difference in skin discolorations such as:

• Age Spots
• Dehydrated skin
• Dark pigmentation
• Freckles
• Pigmentation from acne scars 

Innovative Ingredients:

• Hydroquinone 2.0%

Application: Follow the application instructions of a pharmacist or physician in all cases. General recommendations for use are:

Use once or twice daily and rub in well to affected areas. Always use sunscreens for effective results. Store the cream in a dark place and limit its exposure to air for maximum effective use time. There is no recommended dosage for children under age 12

Warnings: Hydroquinone is a skin "bleaching" agent which may produce unwanted cosmetic effects if not used as directed.

Test for skin sensitivity before using Hydroquinone by applying a small amount to an unbroken patch of skin and check in 24 hours. Minor redness is not a contraindication, but where there is itching or vesicle formation or excessive inflammatory response, further treatment is not advised.

Contact with the eyes should be avoided. If no bleaching or lightening effect is noted after 2 months of treatment use, Hydroquinone Cream should be discontinued.

Precautions: No systemic adverse reactions have been reported with Hydroquinone. Occasional hypersensitivity (localized contact dermatitis) may occur, in which case the medication should be discontinued and the physician notified immediately.

Application 2: Skin Renewal

These applications are formulated to give the skin a renewed glow, and help revitalize skin to a younger look through a series of skin peels and anti-oxidant moisturizing creams.

Step 1: Skin Peels  

The SkinSilk skin peels are designed to be a superficial chemical face peel which means resurfacing the top layer of skin using acid solutions. These products help hide fine lines, discolorations, and even light acne scarring.

Innovative Ingredients

• Trichloracetic Acid (TCA) 3.5%
• Resorcinol 5%
• Lactic Acid 5%
•  Salicylic Acid 4.25%

Application: The treatments take only a few minutes and generally can be performed without the post-treatment swelling and redness of a medium or deep chemical peel. First, the face is rigorously cleaned; then the Chemical Peel is applied as directed by a pharmacist or physician. A small amount of tingling and discomfort is expected during and after the peel. 

The degree of penetration of the superficial peeling agent is based on the chemical strength (concentration) and the amount of time the agent is left on the face in its active form. SkinSilkTM peel formulas are for relatively low concentrations to avoid deep skin damage. Oftentimes, the peels will be performed multiple times in succession over a several week period of time in order to achieve reasonable and identifiable facial rejuvenation. (Again, number of applications should only be directed by a physician or pharmacist) Full effective results should be apparent with 3-4 weeks healing time.

Warnings:  Skin peels contain acids and can do permanent damage if used improperly. It is recommended (and required in some states) to have the skin peel performed only by a certified cosmetologist, technician, or physician.  If self administered, use only as directed or prescribed by your doctor or physician. You should avoid a skin peel or consult with a physician if you meet any of the conditions listed below:

• Allergies to Aspirin
• Facial Warts
• Prior bad reaction to a peel or dermabrasion
• Past herpes simplex (cold sores)
• History of sun allergies
• Recent radiation treatment for cancer
• Keloid or hypertrophic scars (thick scars)
• Pregnant or breast-feeding
• Accutane use within the past six (6) months. Accutane should not be taken for at least six months after the peel either. There are reports of scarring in people who have taken Accutane after a peel.
• Sunburn or significant sun exposure in the last two days
• Surgery or cryosurgery within the last six weeks to the area that is to be treated

Step 2: Skin Healing-Wrinkle Reducing

Central Drugs provides three skin healing options that use cutting edge ingredients that effectively moisturize skin, help reduce and conceal wrinkles, and help improve the cosmetic effects of damage to skin from aging and sun exposure.

• Argireline - Argireline works as a neural inhibitor on the nerves of facial muscle. This causes the muscles to relax, leading to a flattening out of the skin of the face, and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
• Idebenone - Helps shield the skin from environmental damage, improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduces dryness, and smoothes skin texture.
• Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid) - The topical application of vitamin C promotes collagen biosynthesis, thereby slowing the aging process and correcting the signs of aging.

Warnings: Using any skin cream may cause mild irritation or rash. If so, discontinue use. Do not use on exposed or broken skin surface. Contact doctor if you become hypersensitive or inflamed. FDA has not published warnings on idebenone but with any chemical, however there are a very small number of reported allergic reactions to this chemical. If you experience any allergic reaction to any product, discontinue use immediately.

Thyroid Hormones

Functions:

• Control the rate of metabolism
• Control of fat utilization

The thyroid gland is an endocrine gland located just under the Adam's apple in the throat. It secretes a hormone called thyroxine, which controls the body's metabolism and also regulates the utilization of fat. A decline in the amount of this hormone secreted (hypothyroidism) can result in poor concentration, confusion, memory problems, cold hand and feet, weight gain, menstrual problems, sleep disorders, dry skin, thinning hair and low energy levels. Having an unreactive thyroid is also a major cause of a common painful musculoskeletal condition known as fibromyalgia.

Aging often leads to hypothyroidism, and is considered by medical experts to be an under-diagnosed issue. Women over the age of 40 comprise the majority of cases of hypothyroidism, but men and teenagers can be affected, especially if the deficiency runs in the family. Taking thyroid supplements can combat hypothyroidism and subsequently overcome a broad range of aging disorders. Supplements are available in two forms, whole-natural (bio-identical) supplements and synthetic supplements. Studies have shown that the use of bio-identical thyroid hormones is more beneficial than using synthetics. This is due mainly to synthetic hormones containing only one hormone (usually T3 or T4 hormones), whereas bio-identical hormones contain the full spectrum of thyroid hormones (T1, T2, T3, and T4 hormones).
